Clarion North Country Trail Geotrail Goes Active

by Clarion Chapter on May 27, 2012

The Clarion Chapter has established a geocaching geotrail on it’s section of the North Country National Scenic Trail.  The Clarion North Country Trail Geotrail (CNCTGT) went active on Friday, May 25th.

The geotrail consists of 20 geocaches hidden between the Route 66 trail head north of Vowinckel, PA and the city of Parker, PA.  The geocaches are 30 caliber ammo cans.  Each ammo cans lid has a keyword written on the inside of it.  Participants carry a passport with them that has spots for writing down all 20 of the keywords as they find the geocaches.  When someone finds all 20 geocaches, they can submit the completed passport, along with a suggested donation of $10 to Clarion Chapter and receive a commemorative trackable geocoin as a memoir of the adventure.  The initial production of geocoins is 100 and is being paid for through a field grant through the NCTA (thank you very much).  The donations from participants will cover the costs for postage and handling and will allow us to purchase more coins so anyone who wants to will be able to complete this geotrail without worrying about whether or not we will run out of commemorative coins.  So never fear geocachers, we will keep this trail going for several years.

THE GEOTRAIL PASSPORT CAN BE DOWNLOADED HERE

A LIST OF THE GEOCACHES CAN BE FOUND HERE

We hope that everyone has as much fun completing this geotrail as we at Clarion Chapter had heading into the woods to hide the caches.  Any questions regarding the geotrail can be sent to cla@northcountrytrail.org.  HAPPY CACHING!!!!
