Hello! how can I get just the Hiawatha shore to shore GPS data (as shown above)? The download page just has the entire trail which is way too much data for my GPS device to handle.. Please help!
Alex – I pulled the GPS data from the web and am currently only offering KML or Shapefile (both of which can translated into a GPS format using GPSbabel).
Even the GPS track data for just one chapter is more than any standard GPS unit can manage. I’m working on a strategy of offering generic waypoints every 1/2 mile rather than the full track data. This idea comes from what some folks have been doing on other trails out west -http://www.pctmap.net/ .
When this data is ready it will be released on: http://northcountrytrail.org/trail/data/
