Butler County Chapter
The Butler Chapter is dedicated to providing a premium hiking trail to all hikers and to achieving the goal of a continuous off road trail for the through-hikers of the North Country Trail
The sections maintained by the Butler Chapter pass through Moraine State Park, providing access to 15 miles of trail along Lake Arthur and past the Davis Hollow Cabin (a project of the NCT) and connecting to Jennings Nature Reserve and the Old Stone House. To the North and East the trail passes through State Game lands 95, providing access to 13 miles of trail rich in wild life from route 308 to Leonard Rd. In the last section that approached the Trail Town of Parker and the Allegheny river, there is the 5 mile section along the North Fork of Bear Creek, through Hemlock forest and across two special arched bridges.

The Butler Chapter, along with the Butler Outdoor Club were key in establishing the vision, organization, and construction of the NCT in PA. Our dedicated volunteers get great satisfaction in providing a premium trail for the pleasure of both the local and long distance hikers along the North Country Trail. If you would like to share in the fun and camaraderie of good hard work on the trail, please contact us to find out some of the many things that need to be done to make this one of the best parts of the NCT.
The Butler Chapter cares for the Butler County and Armstrong County section of the North Country Trail, partnering with the Butler Outdoor Club to plan annual community events like the Cherry PieHike, which highlights the trail and rich history of the area. The chapter meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30PM in the YMCA Trustees Room, in Butler, PA. All are welcome.
