Does anyone know the trail distance from Clarion to Cook Forest?

I started east where the trail crosses the Wampum New Galilee Road and came across the Mines and Meadows ATV park, but, according to their website, they’re just west of the Stonecrest Golf Coarse. The NCT website shows the trail going way north of this. Was I on the wrong trail?

Sorry, I forgot the second part of your question. I found the entire trail to be pretty well marked. I had a NCT map but it was outdated. I always recommend having a map.

5 hrs is waaaaay too short. I went from the fire tower in Cook Forrest to the bridge over 322 in about 8 hrs, but that was too fast a pace. I would estimate it to be about 22 miles and add another couple if you want to get back to town. It is a pretty good 2 day hike.

Thanks Jim –
Sorry for you poor experience on the trail.
We’re working on a few methods to better communicate trail information in a more timely manner.
We have the foundation in place for some of these but they need more time and energy.

You can find good information here:

I hiked a section of trail in Moraine State park that was two miles longer that the latest (2006) map showed. You need to have a way for hikers to get the updates between new maps being published.
