Group Hike – Bird Sanctuary Evening Solstice Hike
Sunset is 9:03 p.m. and civil twilight is 9:42 p.m. The Sun is just below the horizon at civil twilight, so there is generally enough natural light to carry out most outdoor activities. Let’s hike! The hike distance will be about 3.0 miles. We will hike out and back from the trailhead.
This event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Bird Sanctuary. The bird sanctuary is an example of a Pine Barrens landscape which is the habitat for the Sharptail Grouse. We may even listen for and try to identify birds using the Merlin ID app and your birding knowledge.
Please meet Teresa, your hike leader and Brule-St. Croix Chapter member, at the Bird Road Trailhead just off County Hwy M at 8:00 p.m.
Please bring what you need to hike, water, snacks, trekking poles, bug spray, and a head lamp/flashlight.
