Earth Week Hike
The NCTA Butler County Chapter‘s Earth Week guided hike will commence at 9:00 a.m. (ET) on Wednesday, April 27 from the Moraine State Park’s North Shore Hidden River Trailhead (bike rental parking area) to Burnside Road and back.
This is a moderate hike of six miles (or shorter if you wish) on the North Country National Scenic Trail. This scenic section of the NCNST passes over the Muddy Creek Bridge, behind the Lake Arthur dam, under the Route 422 bridge with views of Lake Arthur, through stands of pine to the Burnside Road trailhead and back.
Bring water and snacks, dress for weather and wear hiking shoes or boots. We may encounter muddy areas and several moderate hills. Spring wildflowers such as trilliums, trout lilies, and Dutchman’s breeches will be in bloom. The NCNST Hidden River trailhead is next to the bike rental lot at 157 North Shore Drive, Portersville, PA (GPS coordinates: 40.97454, -80.12875).
