The Chequamegon Chapter of the North Country Trail Association and the Lake Owen Association are co-sponsoring a free presentation at the Lake Owen Picnic Grounds, on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:30am:

Introduction to Backpacking for Beginners: Backpacking tips, what gear works best, backpacking cooking, purifying drinking water, clothing, rain gear, boots, mosquito and tick repellants, and safety protocols.

To get to the Lake Owen Picnic Grounds from Drummond, Wisconsin, drive southeast on N. Lake Owen Drive/ Forest Road 213 and go 3.4 miles to sign Lake Owen Picnic Grounds. Turn right onto the driveway and go .1 mile to the parking lot. GPS coordinates are: 46.306606, -91.217015

Attendance at this class for beginners makes you eligible to go on a guided group backpacking trip of three days, two nights as described in the event for August 21, 2024.
