SUMMARY:Hike Five: Giant Beaver Dams Hike
DESCRIPTION:\nThis Chequamegon Chapter hike consists of two out-and-back hi
 kes\, one about 2.8 miles and the other about 1.6 miles. Both hikes start 
 and end in the parking area for the Penokee Ski Trails.\n\nThere is a litt
 le bushwacking involved\, so this hike might be difficult for people with 
 mobility impairments.\n\nHikers will have an opportunity to view two large
  beaver ponds and see the impact these busy colonies have on the landscape
 .\n\nThe trailhead is well-marked and located off County Highway GG\, west
  of Mellen and north of Clam Lake.\n\nWe suggest that you dress for the we
 ather and bugs\, wear a hat\, bring bug repellant (perhaps a bug head net)
 \, water\, lunch\, and a snack.\n\nThe alternate date is September 12th. P
