SUMMARY:County Road D to Long Mile Lookout and Back
DESCRIPTION:Meet up with the Chequamegon Chapter at the North Country Trail
  parking lot on the west side of County Road D (GPS coordinates 46.30326\,
  -91.09341)\, approximately 5.2 miles south of Grand View.\n\nThis 5.5-mil
 e out-and-back hike will take us through beautiful pine and hardwood fores
 ts. Shortly after beginning our hike we will come to a backpacking campsit
 e close to East Davis Lake. This campsite was constructed by the Chequameg
 on Chapter in 2021. The trail is relatively flat at the beginning of our h
 ike but becomes hillier as we head east. We will take a short break after 
 climbing up to the decommissioned Long Mile Lookout tower\, and then retur
 n back to the parking lot.\n\nMosquitos\, black flies\, and ticks may stil
 l be present. A hat\, long-sleeved shirt\, and long pants treated with ins
 ect repellent are recommended. Bring plenty of water and snacks\; will tak
 e a short break at least once an hour. The hiking speed will be moderate (
 about 2 miles per hour) depending on the terrain\, and the hike will be on
  dirt tread and not accessible for people with mobility impairments. Cell 
 phone coverage will be spotty\, and there are no toilets along this segmen
 t of the trail so plan accordingly. If you are hiking with a dog\, the dog
  must be on a leash no longer than 6’ and under your control at all time
 s.\n\n
