WORKDAY – Trail Grooming
The Chief Noonday Chapter has some great sections of the North Country Trail, but for many, their favorite is the section between Augusta and Battle Creek – through the Ft. Custer National Cemetery property. A scenic 3 miles of wetland with boardwalk, mature forest, pine plantation, and a picturesque stream! Around this time of year, this section tends to get overgrown with branches, vines, and thorny brambles seeking the sun. Join us on June 20 as we work to trim back this growth.
The Chapter will supply some tools, but please bring lopping shears, pruning shears, and pruning saws if you have them. Think of it as giving the trail a haircut! Walk and talk with new friends.
Bring sturdy gloves and wear long pants. Long sleeves are recommended even if it’s warm. Bring water and snacks. We will work until around lunch. Be prepared for bugs!
Optional breakfast at Dig-In Cafe at 8am (111 W Michigan Ave, Augusta).
