Clark Hill State Forest NCNST Building
Volunteers needed to help the NCTA Central New York Chapter construct a new segment of the NCNST through Clark Hill State Forest, 15 miles northeast of Rome.
Work dates: July 21, 22, 23, 24, 28. Enjoy a day (or more) outdoors, in good company, adding a valuable asset to outdoor recreation in New York State. If you can help us on one or more of these days, or if you have questions, please contact Steve Kinne at at2hike@yahoo.com or 315-882-3684 (text or call).
All levels of experience are welcome. Leadership and tools will be provided. Work on these July dates will be the relatively light “roughing out” of certain sections of Trail: Lopping brush, raking, and some initial smoothing of the trail surface. More strenuous work, including constructing side-hill trails, will be scheduled for the fall.
Eliminating certain roadwalks northeast of Rome has been a long-standing goal. The project to achieve this, now finally at the execution stage, is to reroute the Trail over to, and through, Clark Hill State Forest and Pixley Falls State Park, with about eight miles of new woodland trail to be constructed.
This important work will require many willing hands. We hope to you can help!
