National Trails Day, 2+1 Hike, Dakota Prairie Chapter
Saturday, June 4 is National Trails Day. In celebration, the NCTA Dakota Prairie Chapter is sponsoring a 2+1 Hike on the North Country National Scenic Trail. Participants will meet at 1:00 p.m. We will hike to the Big Ditch and enjoy the beautiful views of the very unique Red River Valley area. Those hikers who would like to turn around at this point and go back to their vehicle will have enjoyed a three-mile trek. Those who would like to hike further will continue to the campsite of the Sheyenne River Valley Overlook, rest, eat a snack, drink water, and turn back to their vehicles. This will make an eight-mile hike in total. Both hikes are out-and-back; the first considered an easy, 1.5-hour trip and the second, a moderate, 3.5-hour trip. We hope you will celebrate National Trails Day with us on either trek on the North Country National Scenic Trail in North Dakota.
