Jordan Valley Loop Hike
The Jordan Valley 45° Chapter will be hosting two hike options on May 16, 2026, in the southwest half of the Jordan Valley. We will be doing some projects in the JV this summer and this will be a good chance to scope it out.
We will gather at the Jordan Valley National Fish Hatchery (at the end of Turner Rd west of US131) at 9:30am.
The Long Hike will head out promptly at 10:00 and the Short Hike will head out by 10:30.
LONG HIKE OPTION ~ 13.25 mile-loop
Starting at the Hatchery at 10:00, we will do a clockwise loop, 8.25 miles of which is on the NCT.
• From the Hatchery go south on Jordan River Rd. about 1 mile to the Jordan Valley Pathway (JVP) and then to Landslide Overlook (mile 115.75) (~ 3.1 miles on the JVP.)
• From Landslide Overlook to Pinney Bridge, (mile 112.25) via the 45° Marker is ~ 3.50 miles
• Pinney Bridge to Jordan River Rd. (mile 107.5) is ~ 4.75 miles
• JR Rd. to Hatchery (~ 1.0 mile)
SHORT HIKE OPTION ~ 5.75 miles
Gather by 10:00 to arrange transport to Pinney Bridge based on head count and head out by 10:30.
• Drive hikers to Pinney Bridge parking (112.25) via Jordan River Rd. and Pinney Bridge Rd. (4.5 miles)
• Pinney Bridge to Jordan River Rd. (107.5) is ~ 4.75 miles.
• Jordan River Rd. to the Hatchery is ~ 1.0 miles.
Dress for the weather and bring plenty of water and snacks. We can stop to picnic on the trail or afterwards at the hatchery. We’ll see the bald eagle’s nest across the Jordan River from the hatchery.

The Jordan Valley 45° Chapter’s trail runs from Starvation Lake Rd. (SE of Mancelona) to Kipp Rd. near Harbor Springs. It’s a terrific 80 miles of mostly off-road valleys, hills and wooded trail. Monthly hikes are usually on the third Saturday of the month.
