SUMMARY:Hike in Mancelona\, MI - Cinder Hill Rd. to Mancelona Rd.
DESCRIPTION:The Jordan Valley 45° Chapter will be hosting a hike on August
  15th from Cinder Hill Rd. to Mancelona Rd.\, about 5.5 miles.\n\nWe will 
 gather at 9:30 AM and head out by 10:00.\n\nMeet at the trail crossing on 
 Mancelona Rd. (44.902169\, -84.928833)\, about 6 miles East of Mancelona. 
 From there we will ferry hikers to the hike start on Cinder Hill Rd. (mile
  marker (120.5) is about 2.5 miles north of Mancelona Rd.).\n\nThere's roo
 m for about 6 cars at the trail crossing\, but there is an ORV parking lot
  located on Mancelona Rd. at Sand Lake Rd.\, about a half mile west of the
  NCT crossing (125.0).\n\nFirst\, we will walk about a half mile west to F
 ive Lake (120.0) and back to Cinder Hill Rd. Then\, we will hike the trail
  south back to Mancelona Rd.\n* Option – Consider driving directly to th
 e Cinder Hill Rd. NCT crossing (120.5) and do a yo-yo hike from Cinder Hil
 l Rd. south with the group and then back\, as far as you want to hike.\n\n
 Following the hike\, we will need to ferry drivers back to recover any car
 s posted at Cinder Hill Rd.\n*If there is interest in doing a longer hike\
 , we will continue south from Mancelona Rd. to Sand Lake (126.5) and back.
  That would add 3.0 miles.\n\nThe first half of the hike is rolling hills 
 and old growth forest and the second half relatively flat and near farm fi
 elds. It is a beautiful section of trail!\n\nDress for the weather\, bring
  water and snacks. If you don't bring a friend\, one will be provided!\n\n
 After the hike\, we will meet for lunch at the Iron Skillet in Mancelona\,
  next to the Rooted Store (stuff made in Michigan). A possible alternative
  is the Green Lantern in Alba\, about 3 miles north of the Cinder Hill tra

 9.0) to Kipp Rd. (49.25) near Harbor Springs. A terrific 80 miles of aweso
 me lakes\, valleys\, hills and wooded trails. Monthly hikes are usually on
  the third Saturday of the month.
