SUMMARY:Petoskey\, MI Hike - Springvale Rd. to Johnson Rd.
DESCRIPTION:For this monthly hike\, the Jordan Valley 45 Chapter we will m
 eet at the trail crossing on Johnson Rd. (628.0) at 9:30am. At 10:00\, we 
 will drive hikers to the start at Springvale Rd. (636.0). We should be on 
 the trail before 10:30.\n\nPlan extra time to find the meeting point. For 
 your GPS\, use 4500 Johnson Rd.\, Petoskey\, MI 49713. The trail crossing 
 is a quarter mile north of this address on Johnson Rd. [45°18'54.3"\, -84
 °51'12.8"]\n\nOriginally we planned this hike for April but\, due to the 
 ice storm\, it was changed. Since then\, incredible trail work - including
  a new re-route north of Springvale Rd. - has been completed. We'll see ho
 w it looks!\n\nThis hike will be about 8.0 miles north by trail. After the
  hike we will get drivers back to the start at Springvale Rd. \n\nSee mile
  markers here.\n\nHike Options \n\nLong Hike: Springvale Rd. (636.0) to Jo
 hnson Rd. (628.0) ~8.0 Miles\n\nShorter Hike Options (you park where you s
 tart):\n• Springvale to Maxwell &amp\; Harmon Rds. (630.5) ~5.0 miles.\n
 • Springvale to Welsh Rd. (632.0) ~ 4.0 Miles.\n• Start at Johnson Rd.
  (628.0) and hike south to meet hikers coming north and then back to Johns
 on.\n\nCome prepared for the weather. Don’t forget to bring plenty of wa
 ter and snacks for the trail.\n\nThis fantastic section of trail is hilly 
 and runs the crest of the high ridge that runs north/south between I75 and
  131 from south of Petoskey to Thumb Lake. Most of the trail is high and d
 ry with lots of old growth sections. Near mile-marker 633.0 is Cherry Vall
 ey Overlook. We will probably check that out\, adding a half mile to the h
 ike.\n\nThe Jordan Valley 45 Chapter trail runs from Starvation Lake Rd. n
 ear Mancelona to Kipp Rd. in Harbor Springs\, about 80 miles of valleys\, 
 hills and wooded trail. Monthly hikes are usually on the 3rd Saturday. All
