Join the Jordan Valley 45 Chapter for our September hike!

We will meet at the trail crossing at Bayfront Park in Petoskey (mile 605.0) at 10:00 am. At 10:30 we will drive hikers to the start at Krause Rd. (614.75). We should be on the trail before 11:00.

Landmarks along the way: Skyline Shelter (near the start), Day’s NCT Barn, River Road Sports Complex (608.75), Bear River Bridge, North Central Michigan College, Bear River Walkway and Bayfront Park.)

Long Hike (~9.75 miles) 10:00am – We will gather at the hikes-end at Bayfront Park (605.0) at 10:00am to get a head count and plan transportation. Promptly at 10:30 am we will head out to ferry hikers to the hike start at Krause Rd. (614.75). Overall, the trail is fairly flat. There is about 2.5 miles of road walk.

Short Hike (~3.75 miles) about 1:00pm – Park at River Road Sports Complex, 2221 River Rd. (mile marker 608.75) to meet up with the group coming from Krause Rd. at about 1:30pm and then hike to Bayfront Park. Alternatively, you could park at Bayfront Park and hike south on the trail to meet the rest of us coming north.

We will ferry drivers back to their cars at Krause and River Rd.

Afterglow: Following the hike, we will likely sop for pops and pretzels at Beards Brewery in Petoskey.

As always, dress for the weather, bring plenty of water and snacks.

The Jordan Valley 45° Chapter’s trail runs from Starvation Lake Rd. (SE of Mancelona) to Kipp Rd. near Harbor Springs. A terrific 79 miles of awesome valleys, hills and wooded trail. Monthly hikes are usually on the third Saturday of the month. October hike will be on the 17th, from Kipp Rd. to Bayfront Park. All hikes are free and you don’t need to be a member.
