Jordan Valley West End Loop Hike
The NCTA Jordan Valley 45° Chapter will be hosting two hike options on July 15 in the southwest half of the Jordan Valley.
We will gather at 9:30 a.m. (ET) at the Jordan Valley National Fish Hatchery (end of Turner Road, west of U.S. 131). The long hike will head out promptly at 10:00 a.m. and the short hike will head out at 10:30 a.m.
• Long Hike: 13.25-mile, clockwise loop.
From the hatchery, we’ll hike south on Jordan River Road for about one mile to the Jordan Valley Pathway (JVP). We’ll then hike a little over three miles to Landslide Overlook (Michigan Mile 673.75). From Landslide Overlook, we’ll hike about 3.25 miles to Pinney Bridge (670.25) via the 45° Marker (671.75). From Pinney Bridge to Jordan River Road (665.5) is 4.75 miles and then a mile back to the hatchery.
• Short Hike: About 5.75 miles.
Gather by 10:00 a.m. to arrange transport to Pinney Bridge (670.25) based on headcount, and start hiking by 10:30. From Pinney Bridge to Jordan River Road (665.5) is 4.75 miles and then a mile back to the hatchery.
Dress for the weather, bring plenty of water and snacks. We will stop to picnic on the Trail, or afterwards at the hatchery.
The Jordan Valley 45° Chapter’s trail runs from Starvation Lake Rd. (SE of Mancelona) to Kipp Rd. near Harbor Springs. It’s a terrific 78 miles of mostly off-road valleys, hills and wooded trail.
Monthly hikes are usually on the third Saturday of the month.
