Join the NCTA Ni-Miikanaake Chapter volunteers for a workday. Meet at the Black River Harbor Parking Lot in the Ottawa National Forest. The lot is at Michigan Mile Marker MI-36.5. GPS: 46.66438, -90.04684. We’ll hike east on the NCT to about Tanager Creek, blazing and brushing along the way. Participants should bring water, snacks, mosquito nets. Trail maintenance tools such as trimmers and loppers would be useful.

Black River Harbor is a very scenic area, with a pedestrian suspension bridge and a beach on Lake Superior.

Dress for mid-September weather. There are restrooms, but no potable water, at the parking lot. The hike includes waterfall overlooks and large, old-growth hemlock trees. There is a daily parking fee at the parking lot – passes such as the Federal America the Beautiful are OK. The area is out of cell phone coverage.
