SUMMARY:Spirit of the Woods Chapter (Northern MI) July Hike
DESCRIPTION:The July hike with the Spirit of the Woods Chapter will be on t
 he second Saturday of July on July 12\, starting at 9 am.\n\nLoren Bach wi
 ll be the hike leader. Please RSVP by calling or texting 231 510-1983 or e
 mail spw@northcountrytrail.org\n\nThe starting point will be the Five Mile
  Road Trailhead\, located on Five Mile Road southwest of Irons\, MI and go
  southbound.\n\nClick here for the ArcGIS map of the trailhead. The trailh
 ead is at approximately 841.75 (Note this milepost is consistent from the 
 recently updated Avenza maps Please be sure to update your maps for accura
 te milepost numbers.)\n\nClick here for Google driving directions to the t
 railhead. Note: it is ok to park at the back of the Sweetfern Café to the
  west of the trailhead (7595 W 5 Mile Road\, Irons MI 49644). The parking 
 area is small so please carpool if you are able to. The café has snacks a
 nd beverages which is nice for after the hike.\n\nIf you decide to park on
  Mac Road\, east of the trailhead\, please park facing south (or on the we
 st/right side of the road) as on the east side of the road there is a land
 owner that is not favorable to parking near his land. He has a towing/no t
 respassing sign posted on his property.\n\nThe out-and-back hike will be a
 bout five miles going south from the trailhead. We will cross the Sauble R
 iver on the Vince Smith bridge which is an interesting fiberglass suspensi
 on bridge that was installed in 2016. The area is level at the start and t
 hen climbs to a ridge. Hikers that wish to go further\, please plan to hav
 e a small group so that you are not hiking alone. We could use a sweep for
  this hike.\n\n
