Annual Meeting, Potluck and Hike, Spirit of the Woods Chapter
The NCTA Spirit of the Woods Chapter is hosting its annual meeting on Saturday, September 24. In reality, it’s just an excuse to gather, eat, and hike! We don’t plan to have any business to vote on, but the Chapter will provide hot dogs and lemonade. We ask for potluck donations of salads, sides, and dessert. Feel free to bring friends and family. No need to be a North Country Trail member or a Chapter member.
We will meet the Spirit of the Woods Conservation Club northeast of Brethren. (This is a separate nonprofit that happens to have the same name as our Chapter).
The Conservation Club has three miles of hiking trails on the grounds. We are also planning a hike with a leader on the NCNST. The Trail crosses Dilling Road about six miles east Brethren, so after the potluck and cookout, if you are interested, you can hike with a hike leader for approximately four or five miles. We may need help with hike leaders depending on number of people and the distances that they would like to hike. Please let us know if you would like to help out with that.
Dogs are ok on leashes, with the caveat that you need to clean up after them. They are also ok on the NCNST hike.
Please let us know if you plan to attend, it helps to plan the number of hotdogs etc. But if you find you can get away to join us without an RSVP, just arrive!
Use this link for directions to the Spirit of the Woods Conservation Club. (The Google Map may say it’s “temporarily closed” but it’s not.) Also, the conservation club is on the south side of Coates Road – Google does not indicate this. The conservation club is on the Spirit of the Woods Road, just south of Coates Highway, east of Brethren.
If you have questions or to RSVP, please email Loren Bach at spw@northcountrytrail.org, or phone or text 231-510-1983.
