Spring Hike Challenge
Join the Wampum Chapter and Lawrence County Tourism in celebration of 250 years of The United States of America for a 25-mile challenge. Use this as a training or self-check for the A-100.
This is a strenuous hike, limited to 15 hikers, and must be completed within nine hours. Hikers must be self-supported. However, there will be a small break station at Hells Hollow.
Hikers who wish to volunteer to sweep a section or “tag along with a specific hiker” for portions of this event are welcome but not counted in the limited number of participants. Contact Jamie Korn at blueberryjamie@gmail.com to let her know what section you’d like to be involved with.
Meet at 6am at the Wampum Depot, 303 Main St, Wampum, PA to register, with a prompt 6:15am departure to shuttle/car pool to Alpha Pass, McConnells Mills. The hike from Alpha Pass to Wampum is 18 miles, with three road walk sections consisting of six miles.
As a group we can complete 23 miles. After 18 miles, check in at Wampum, then continue out and back to Mines & Meadows. Or individuals can proceed toward Possum Hollow and back to Wampum to complete 25 miles.
A small meal will be provided between 3-5pm at the depot upon completion. Come dressed in your favorite red, white, and blue along with proper footwear.
