The Hiawatha National Forest welcomes hikers to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula soon after crossing the Mackinac Bridge. The north Country Trail wanders 86 miles through the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest’s eastern half. You will travel through areas full of history and geology, sand dunes, mixed forests, lowlands, and more. If a remote, quiet hiking and camping experience is what you are looking for, then the North Country Trail is just for you. Just follow the blue diamonds and enjoy the solitude, scenery, and adventure of the Eastern Upper Peninsula.
