The North Country Trail Association has hundreds of events along the Trail each year.

Hike 100 and Hike 50 Challenges, 2018

Location: Across all 7 states
Hike 100 Challenge–During 2018, we are hosting a Hike 50 and a Hike 100 Challenge to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the National Trails System Act. Hike 50 or 100 miles on the NCT and receive a special edition patch.

Allegheny 100 Challenge, June 8-10

Location: Allegheny National Forest, Pennsylvania
The Allegheny 100 Challenge happens each year in June, and is hosted by the Allegheny National Forest Chapter in Pennsylvania.

National Trails Day, First Saturday in June each year

Location: Across all 7 states
National Trails day, organized by the American Hiking Society, happens each year the first Saturday in June. NCTA Chapters host events across the Trail.

NCNST Day, 4th Saturday in September

Location: Across all 7 states
Whether you join a local Chapter for a hike, or go out on the Trail with your family and friends, help us celebrate the nation’s longest National Scenic Trail coinciding with National Public Lands Day.

NCT Crew Leader Trainings, Fall 2018

Location: Minnesota and Michigan

Are you interested in learning more about leading trail crews on the North Country Trail? Join us for one of our upcoming NCT Crew Leader trainings! Registration is now open for the Fall 2018 Crew Leader training events in both Minnesota and Michigan. The NCT Crew Leader training will prepare you to organize and lead volunteers and plan successful trail projects along the Trail. Topics include: crew safety, leading and motivating volunteers, recruiting participants, setting work priorities, project planning, sharing your work and more! No experience is necessary to attend the training. Training events will include both classroom presentations and hands-on field experience. More details will be distributed soon to registered participants.
  • MinnesotaSeptember 21-23 at the Gunflint Lodge in Grand Marais
    • NCTA and the Kekekabic Trail Chapter are partnering with the Border Route Trail Association to host this full weekend training opportunity. This training will give participants the ability to participate in the full day Crew Leader training AND additional field work sessions covering both front-country/day trips and remote/ multi-day trips. Limited meals and Bunkhouse style lodging accommodations are provided for participants. Register now!
  • MichiganOctober 20 at the Manistee National Forest Baldwin-White Cloud District Ranger Office
    • NCTA and the Spirit of the Woods Chapter are hosting a 1-day Crew Leader Training that will prepare volunteers to lead local and regional trail projects in Michigan and beyond. Register now!
