It’s that time of year again! The Buckeye Trail Association, North Country Trail Association, and Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District are happy to announce that BTA and NCTA Member Registration is now OPEN for this year’s 3rd Annual Blue Blaze Academy!

Please note that participants will be arriving and setting up camp on Friday, April 26th. Workshops officially begin at 8:00am on Saturday, the 27th.

Blue Blaze Academy is a series of workshops designed to train and educate the Buckeye Trail Association’s volunteers about a variety of topics related to sustainable trail building and maintenance, conservation, and volunteer leadership.

NCTA volunteers are invited to join and attendance is free.

There are two programs of workshops available to attendees this year: the Introduction to Trail Building program, and the Trail Crew Specialist program. For program descriptions please click here.

The BTA strongly recommends that participants complete Introduction to Trail Building before attempting Trail Crew Specialist, as the Trail Crew Specialist program utilizes and builds upon concepts and skills taught in Introduction to Trail Building. Participants will receive a certificate of completion for their programs at the end of the weekend, and participating in Blue Blaze Academy qualifies all attendees to receive their 5-hour volunteer patches! NCTA members can use their time at the academy towards volunteer service hours as well.

Attendance is limited to 40 participants. To register, please visit the above link on the BTA website. Fill out the Blue Blaze Academy portion of the Volunteer Event Registration Form, and click SUBMIT. After submitting, you will receive an email confirming your registration. Camping is available on site and free to all participants. Meals will also be provided. Please make sure to register!

A week before the event, you’ll receive the schedule of events for your selected program and directions to the BTA Farmstead.
