North Country Trail Association

Marquette Area Chapter

Section

The Marquette Area Chapter’s segment of the North Country Trail is from Long Lake, west of Craig Lake State Park, to Rock River Road in Alger County.

Here, the trail winds through wilderness; along the Lake Superior shoreline; up and over Hogback and Sugarloaf Mountains; past multiple waterfalls; around Lakenenland Sculpture Park; and into the NCTA Trail Town of Marquette. The Marquette Area Chapter volunteers maintain their segment in partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority, Lyme Great Lakes Timberlands LLC, and Marquette County, as well as others.
