2017 NCTA Celebration
Northern Michigan University in Marquette
July 26 - July 30

You are invited to the 2017 Annual North Country Trail Assoc. Conference to be held in Marquette in Michigan's Central Upper Peninsula on July 26-30, 2017

This is a whole North Country Trail Association Conference.

The weekend will feature a full roster of hiking on the North Country National Scenic Trail through some of the Upper Peninsula’s premiere locations. Enjoy scenic views, history of the area, and evening presentations including the annual NCTA and National Park Service awards.

Rat Lake Hike
August 12, 2017

Hike from the Little Two Hearted River to the Little Two Hearted River. This 5 mile hike takes you past Rat Lake and through the bogs in the Swamp Lakes area.

Meet at the bridge where the Little Two Hearted River crosses CR-500 -- the southern crossing. This is near mile #727.5 on this map: http://arcg.is/2uk7PEv or Section P on the map at www.northcountrytrail.org/hss/maps.shtml

Bring insect repellant, water, camera, footwear suitable for for hiking and that can get wet. Bring a friend!

We will gather for a late lunch and refreshments after the hike at a nearby 'watering hole'.


Warm Up for the Bridge Hike!
September 3, 2017
2pm - 5pm

Take a wonderful hike in the woods as a contrast / warm-up to the Mackinac Bridge Walk! Meet at Trout Brook Pond north of H-40 between Rudyard and Trout Lake. Hiking will include a visit to the Niagara Escarpment, a beaver dam, abandoned lumber railroad bed, a spring fed pond and more!

Bring appropriate footwear and clothing, insect repellant, water, camera and a friend!

2017 Mackinac Bridge Walk
September 4, 2017
6:00am - 12:00pm

Things will be different this year on the Mackinac Bridge walk on Labor Day. Only buses and emergency vehicles will be able to use the Bridge from 6:00am until 12:noon. To walk the Bridge, you must start from the north end before 10:30am and end before Noon. Anyone still on the Bridge at 11:30 is subject to being picked up by a bus as the intent is to re-open the Bridge to all vehicle traffic promptly at Noon.
