Hike with the Allegheny National Forest Chapter on National Public Lands Day! See how the Forest Service’s Heart’s Content Hiking Trails tie into the National Park Service’s North Country National Scenic Trail.

We will meet at Heart’s Content Recreation Area. The parking is located off Heart’s Content Rd, about 4.8 miles south of Pleasant Dr, SR 3005. Turn left into the Recreation Area. (The campground is slightly further and on the right).

Our hike will take us to the NCT via the Tom’s Run and Tanbark Trails. We’ll stop at the Queen Creek shelter (4.3 miles) and return to Heart’s Content via the other half of the Tom’s Run loop (5.0 miles). Hikers who would like to hike further can add on 3 miles by continuing past the shelter to the Coalbed Run Campsite before returning to Heart’s Content.

Please come prepared for the hike dressed in appropriate layers for the weather, and carrying your own food and water.

Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome. Hope to see you there!
