These two workdays with the Chequamegon Chapter will be aimed at finishing the newly-built tread along Canthook Lake by benching the tread, removing edge berms that inhibit water movement, and removing vegetation mats. The original tread was built hastily, but now needs to be “finished” to our highest standards.

Tools will be provided, but bring you own if you wish. We plan to use mainly Pulaskis, mattocks, and McLeods. For those who don’t want to dig in the dirt, finish lopping is still needed along the northern-most two miles of the beautiful reroute trail. Bring gloves, water, snacks, and appropriate clothing for the weather.

Derek Ogle will be the crew leader, so please reply to him at DerekOgle51@gmail.com with which day(s) you can help. If there is a change in plans due to weather or other circumstances, on the evening before each workday, Derek will send an email to people who notified him that they plan to participate.

This Canthook Lake Reroute has been a huge project, but we are close to finishing the tread on the southern half of the reroute. A big turnout will lighten the work for everyone!

Meet at 8:00 am at Canthook Lake located on a short spur road off Canthook Lake Road northwest of Delta, WI. Work will end around noon. If you arrive late, follow the new trail southward along Canthook Lake until you reach the crew.
