Meet up with the Chequamegon Chapter at the North Country Trail parking lot on the west side of County Road D (GPS coordinates 46.30326, -91.09341), approximately 5.2 miles south of Grand View.

This 5.5-mile out-and-back hike will take us through beautiful pine and hardwood forests. Shortly after beginning our hike we will come to a backpacking campsite close to East Davis Lake. This campsite was constructed by the Chequamegon Chapter in 2021. The trail is relatively flat at the beginning of our hike but becomes hillier as we head east. We will take a short break after climbing up to the decommissioned Long Mile Lookout tower, and then return back to the parking lot.

Mosquitos, black flies, and ticks may still be present. A hat, long-sleeved shirt, and long pants treated with insect repellent are recommended. Bring plenty of water and snacks; will take a short break at least once an hour. The hiking speed will be moderate (about 2 miles per hour) depending on the terrain, and the hike will be on dirt tread and not accessible for people with mobility impairments. Cell phone coverage will be spotty, and there are no toilets along this segment of the trail so plan accordingly. If you are hiking with a dog, the dog must be on a leash no longer than 6’ and under your control at all times.
