Hike 100 Challenge: MDOT US-131 Rest Area to Spring Lake CG
Join the Grand Traverse Chapter of the North Country Trail Association on an 8.4 mile hike that starts at MDOT US 131 Rest Stop and ends at Spring Lake State Forest Campground. This hike follows a portion of the Manistee River and part of Spring Lake in a beautiful forest.
The hike will take approximately 4 hours. We’ll meet at 10 am at MDOT rest stop. A quick shuttle and off we go to discover this wonderful segment.
Breaks will be taken as needed, but a break at 4 miles is guaranteed for hydration and snack.
Poles are optional, good hiking boots, bug spray is recommended. Don’t forget sunscreen, hat, lots of water
The rest stop is located on US 131, 2.6 miles south of M-113
(44° 29′ 22.1″ N 85° 24′ 22.3 W). The campground is located on US-131 about 3.1 miles north of M-113, 0.9 miles south of M-186.
