The July hike with the Spirit of the Woods Chapter will be on the second Saturday of July on July 12, starting at 9 am.

Loren Bach will be the hike leader. Please RSVP by calling or texting 231 510-1983 or email spw@northcountrytrail.org

The starting point will be the Five Mile Road Trailhead, located on Five Mile Road southwest of Irons, MI and go southbound.

Click here for Google driving directions to the trailhead. Note: it is ok to park at the back of the Sweetfern Café to the west of the trailhead (7595 W 5 Mile Road, Irons MI 49644). The parking area is small so please carpool if you are able to. The café has snacks and beverages which is nice for after the hike.

If you decide to park on Mac Road, east of the trailhead, please park facing south (or on the west/right side of the road) as on the east side of the road there is a landowner that is not favorable to parking near his land. He has a towing/no trespassing sign posted on his property.

The out-and-back hike will be about five miles going south from the trailhead. We will cross the Sauble River on the Vince Smith bridge which is an interesting fiberglass suspension bridge that was installed in 2016. The area is level at the start and then climbs to a ridge. Hikers that wish to go further, please plan to have a small group so that you are not hiking alone. We could use a sweep for this hike.
