The Spirit of the Woods Chapter is hosting a work day on the North Country National Scenic Trail Day on Saturday, September 27 at 9 am in the area known as Sterling Marsh. This is also in celebration of National Public Lands Day.

We are hosting a work day on September 27 to give back to the trail we love and complete some light work on the boardwalks in Sterling Marsh, south and west of Baldwin, MI. The boardwalks become slippery with age and moisture. We have some metal non-slip strips that the Forest Service is providing for us. We have enough anti-slip treads for approximately 600 feet of boardwalk. We just need the person power to install those strips on the boardwalk sections! Please plan to bring a battery powered drill with a clutch and kneepads (or something to kneel on such as foam or a towel).

Dan Driesenga will be the work day leader. We will meet at 9 AM at the Jenks Road Trailhead. This is south of 76th St., which is south and west of the town of Baldwin, MI. See the ArcGIS map at https://arcg.is/vCHmX0. The trailhead is at milepost 870.

Then take the small Forest Service Road, FS 6241 on the west side of Jenks Road. It only goes a short distance before ending at the trailhead parking lot. The GPS coordinates are 43.834642, -85.893533.
