Events

The Dakota Prairie Chapter is hosting a hike through the open prairie and the oak savannah in the Sheyenne Grasslands.

We will meet at the East Trailhead near Jorgens Hollow Campground.

We will be led by Brent who will share his knowledge of the birds and plants; we may see small animals as we hike. Bring your binoculars if you would like a closer look at the birds or other wildlife.

We will hike from the trailhead to Iron Springs and back which will be about 8 miles and take 3-4 hours. Due to the distance, it is a moderate hike with gently rolling or flat terrain. Since it is an out-and-back hike, those who wish to hike a shorter distance can turn around earlier.

Remember to bring water, a snack, and bug repellant.
