Come Help Care for the Brule Bog Boardwalk
The Brule Bog Boardwalk, just northeast of Solon Springs, is one of the most popular day-hiking sections of the NCT in Wisconsin. Hikers say “it’s magical” and “like a walk through a fairy forest.”
Can you believe the Boardwalk is nearly 20 years old? The photo, from July 2006, shows some of the first construction by Brule-St. Croix Chapter volunteers.
After this amount of time, some serious maintenance is needed. Volunteer Dominic Sosnowski, a nearby neighbor of the Boardwalk, has stepped up and is leading the project. Volunteers are leveling, improving the supporting structure, replacing boards as needed, and cleaning.
Meet at Palmer’s Landing Trailhead. Wear appropriate gear for working outdoors in a wet place. Contact dominic.sosnowski@gmail.com with questions.
Great progress was made last fall. Let’s work together to have the Boardwalk ready for 2025 hikers to enjoy.
