Chequamegon Chapter Workday
While it’s unusual to hold workdays on successive weekends, the Chequamegon Chapter is trying to complete a couple of our bigger construction jobs before mosquito season and this work site has a reputation for voracious mosquitoes.
Meet at 9:00 am on Porcupine Lake Road at the spur trail that leads to Porcupine Lake in the Porcupine Lake Wilderness.
We will demolish a two-log bridge over Porcupine Creek and replace it with two large timbers that were already delivered to the bridge site. All tools will be provided.
We need to work in the creek which is about 14” deep in the center so I recommend bringing hip boots or chest waders or wearing shoes that can get wet. Also bring gloves, water bottle, and snacks/lunch.
We need to move heavy logs and timbers and, therefore, need at least a dozen reasonably strong people. We cannot complete this project with fewer people. If you plan to attend, send a notice to Mel Baughman (baugh001@umn.edu) no later than Noon on Friday, May 16. If there are not enough participants, Mel will send an email notice back to participants postponing this workday!
