Join a women-led chainsaw safety training in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10 at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. This workshop will empower women to be comfortable with running a saw and saw knowledge.

The principal focus will be on safety; safe posture, safe practices, safe clothing, and safe habits. Sessions will include: personal protective equipment review, other safety equipment, buying and maintaining a saw, demonstrations of safe felling techniques, hands-on opportunity for supervised, safe practice, assessing the safety of the cuts, answers to your chainsaw questions! This workshop does not meet the certification requirements of either the U.S. Forest Service or National Park Service, that NCTA Chapter volunteers are required to take in order to become certified chainsaw operators, but the skills here are still quite valuable.

This will be a two-day workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (on both days). Food is provided for both days. Lodging is not provided, but a list of local lodging can be provided upon request. If you are interested in sharing a room to save on costs, please email Lauren Larsen at lauren.larsen@wisc.edu after registering and we will send a group email to those interested! Space is limited to 15 per workshop so register early.

  • Registration is $175 and includes meals for both days
