Join the NCTA Grand Traverse Hiking Club Chapter on a beautiful fall hike from Spring Lake State Forest Campground, located off US-131 near Fife Lake, to the US-131 rest stop. Spring Lake is an undeveloped lake attached to Fife Lake. This 8-mile hike will follow a section of the North Country National Scenic Trail. It’s fairly flat with some minor hills. We will hike in beautiful woods and along the Manistee River at times, stopping halfway for lunch.

Meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Spring Lake Campground and park by the kiosk on the main road into campground. We will shuttle cars to the US-131 rest stop to get back to our starting point. This is not an out-and-back hike. Bring lunch, snack, water, bug spray, and anything you need for comfort. Please be able to hike 8 miles as turning back alone is not recommended. For those of you aiming for our Chapter’s 100 Mile Challenge, you can add 8 miles to your tally on this hike!
