The Jordan Valley 45° Chapter will be hosting two hike options on July 17, 2024 in the northeast part of the Jordan Valley. 3.6 miles is on the NCT and 4.15 is on the Jordan River Pathway, for a total of ~7.75 miles.

Location: 45.026752, -84.964660 See map and mile markers here.

We will gather at the Jordan Valley National Fish Hatchery (at the end of Turner Rd west of US131) at 9:30am and head out promptly at 10:00.

LONG-HIKE OPTION: ~ 7.75-mile loop starting at the Hatchery at 10:00. We will do a counterclockwise loop:
• From the Hatchery ~.7 miles up Turner Rd. to the Jordan River Pathway crossing
• Turner Rd. to Deadman’s Overlook ~2.2 miles
• Deadman’s Overlook to register box at foot of access trail to NCT ~0.6 miles
• Register Box to Jordan River Rd. at “Three Tubes” ~3.6 miles
• JR Rd. at 3 Tubes to Hatchery ~ .80 miles

SHORT-HIKE OPTION: Start at Deadman’s Hill Parking and Hike to Hatchery ~4.9 miles. (Somehow, we will get you back to your car.)

We might also add a short side trip to the scenic view at the beaver ponds.

Dress for the weather, bring plenty of water and snacks for the trail or a picnic after at the Hatchery.

Trail Conditions – Aside from the .7 mile uphill on Turner Rd. and the half mile downhill on Deadman’s Hill, this hike is on fairly flat terrain. Sights include the Deadman’s Overlook, various springs, an unnamed beaver pond, and the Jordan River.

The Jordan Valley 45 Chapter trail runs from Starvation Lake Rd. to Kipp Rd. in Harbor Springs, about 79 miles of awesome valleys, hills and wooded trail.
