A small group of people are hiking all 79 miles of the Jordan Valley 45° Chapter over five days from Friday, September 8th, to Tuesday, September 12th, (details below). For the monthly hike on Saturday September 9th, we will join the “Hike the Chapter” group for 10.5 miles from Krause Rd. to Springvale Hill Rd. This section of trail is absolutely one of the best in the J45.

We will meet at the hikes-end on Springvale Rd. (635.75) at 9:00 and, at 9:30, drive hikers to the meet thru-hikers at Krause Rd. and head out by 10:00. After the hike, we will ferry drivers back to the start.

Long Hike Options:
• Krause Rd. (625.25) to Springvale Rd. (635.75) -10.5 Miles
Short Hike Options:
• Starting at Johnson Rd. (627.75) reduces the hike to ~ 8.0 miles.
• Starting at Welsh Rd. (630.5) reduces the hike to 5.25 miles.
• Start at Springvale Rd. (635.75) and head north to meet the people heading south and then back to Springvale Rd.

Come prepared for the weather. Don’t forget plenty of water, sandwiches, and snacks for the trail.

This fantastic section of trail is hilly and runs the crest of the high ridge that runs north/south between I75 and 131 from south of Petoskey to Thumb Lake. Most of the trail is high and dry with lots of old-growth sections.

The Jordan Valley 45 Chapter trail runs from Starvation Lake Rd. to Kipp Rd. in Harbor Springs, about 79 miles of awesome valleys, hills, and wooded trail. Monthly hikes are usually on the 3rd Saturday of the month.

Regarding “Hike the Chapter”:
At present, we have three folks signed up to do the entire five days. You are welcome to join for all or some of the hike. To lighten our load, camping gear will be moved for us daily.
• Friday, 8th- Kipp Rd. (607.5) to Skyline Shelter, near Krause Rd. at 625.25) ~17.75 miles.
• Saturday, 9th – Skyline Shelter (Krause Rd.) Chandler Hill Rd. (640.5) ~15.25 miles.
• Sunday, 10th- Chandler Hill Rd. to Dobleski Rd. (654.0 ~13.5 miles.
• Monday, 11th- Dobleski Rd. to Pinney Bridge Campground (670.5) ~16.0 miles
• Tuesday, 12th- Pinney Bridge Camp to Starvation Lake Rd. (686.25) ~16.25
