The Adirondack Mountain Club Onondaga Chapter (ADK-ON) works with the National Park Service and NCTA to develop the North Country Trail route through Adirondack Park. The Onondaga Chapter is located in Central New York, maintaining over 80 miles of the NCT that shares route with the Finger Lakes Trail (FLT), from western to central New York State. Near Cuyler, the two trails separate: the NCT goes north to the Adirondacks and the FLT goes south to the Catskills. The Chapter also sponsors approximately 200 outings per year, including over 40 trips in the Adirondacks. Outings include day hikes, weekend overnight hikes and backpacking trips, kayak/canoe trips, bicycling, mountain climbing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and social events.
