Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Chapter Trail Hike: Salt Point Road to Naomikong
No Fooling! A great April Hike with the Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Chapter! We start out near the highest point in Chippewa County and end up looking at Whitefish Bay/Lake Superior. This is a beautiful area to hike, anytime of the year.
Meet at the Naomikong Overlook parking lot. We will park across the road, south of the overlook, at the overflow parking lot. Look for the sign at the roadside. From there, we will carpool to the Salt Point Road crossing of the NCT and hike north 5 miles past the Naomikong Pond Shelter. From the shelter to our cars is just over a third of a mile. If someone wanted to extend this hike, a couple more miles would bring you to The Shallows on Whitefish Bay after crossing the Naomikong River.
Find the Naomikong Overlook:
The Naomikong Overlook is found on the Curley Lewis Highway between Brimley and Paradise, on the south side of Whitefish Bay, north of Strongs, Michigan.

Weather could adjust our plans so be sure to be there for the pre-hike discussion. April weather is SO fickle!
Bring: Water, (maybe skis or snowshoes?), camera, clothing. and footwear appropriate for the weather and the conditions, the 10 essentials, a snack, AND a FRIEND! We can provide a friend if yours isn’t available.
We will need to record your name and contact information before the hike.
