Mackinac Bridge Warm-up Hike
Here is a hike with the Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Chapter to get ready for the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk. Walk through the woods north of Saint Ignace, in Moran, crossing the Carp River and Silver Creek. This is your chance to hike with others and have a conversation or two while you’re enjoying the great outdoors in the Hiawatha National Forest. Make this a part of your Labor Day Weekend plans.
This hike will start with us gathering where the North Country Trail crosses M-123 north and west of Moran. There is off-road parking on a parking lot on the east side of the road. From there, we will carpool to the start of the hike and hike back to our vehicles.
The length of the hike will be 5.5 miles (making the hike approximately the same length as the Labor Day Bridge Walk). There is always an option to hike in and back out as well if you so desire.
The meeting location can also be found here.
The GPS location of the parking lot is: 46.075606, -84.915442
Bring: Water, sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable shoes, and a camera. Bring a friend! Review the 10 essentials for hiking.
It is possible that many will gather after the hike at a local establishment for refueling and refreshment.
We will need to record your name and contact information before the hike.
If you have questions before the day of the hike, text Tom at 906-322-2617.
Cell phone service is spotty along the trail so there may not be an answer the day of the event.
