Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Hike Between da Falls
Celebrate Michigan Trails Week and also North Country National Scenic Trail Day with the Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Chapter by hiking the most popular trail in the park. The River Trail (NCT) parallels the Tahquamenon River between the Upper and Lower Falls. Total hiking distance, up to 5 miles or more. This trail is considered challenging due to exposed roots, hills and potential mud.
Meet at the Tahquamenon Lower Falls parking lot and we will finalize the hiking plans. Carpooling will be necessary to hike from the Upper Falls to the Lower Falls.

Bring: Water to take on the trail, sunscreen, insect repellant, proper footwear and clothing for the conditions, your camera, a whistle, a compass, a snack or lunch to have on the trail, and a small pack to carry it all.

After the hike we will refuel and refresh at a local eatery.
A Michigan State Park Passport is required to enter the park and can be obtained at the entrance. These are also available when renewing a Michigan license plate.
Camping is available at Tahquamenon Falls State Park or at any of the surrounding campgrounds. Other lodging is also available here.

Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore maintains, promotes, develops and builds the NCT in the Eastern UP. The River Trail between the Falls is part of the North Country National Scenic Trail which runs over 4,800 miles between Vermont and North Dakota.
