October Workday, Allegheny National Forest Chapter
Join the NCTA Allegheny National Forest Chapter for a work day on October 7! The location and trail work have been changed from what was originally announced, so look at this new information carefully!
We’ll meet no later than 10:00 a.m. at Webbs Ferry Boat Launch. Webbs Ferry is located off of Scandia Road in Russell, PA just before the NY-PA state line. We’ll be boated across the reservoir to Tracy Run for this workday. If you have a life jacket, please bring it.
If the weather doesn’t look like it will cooperate for boating across the reservoir, the alternate meeting spot is the Tracy Ridge Trail System Trailhead parking. To get to the parking lot from Route 346, go south on Route 321 about 3 miles. Or from Route 59, go north about 13 miles. Turn off 321 into the campground entrance. The lot is about 0.5 miles on the left (GPS coordinates: 41.9433557, -78.8771986). We’ll hike down to the work site. That call will be made no later than 9:00 a.m. on Friday so you’ll know where to meet. Please check back for details before setting out!
We’ll be building a shelter along the north branch of Tracy Run. Once this is complete, there will be nine shelters spaced out about 10 miles apart along the length of the North Country National Scenic Trail in the Allegheny National Forest. All of the shelters have been built with volunteer work and donated or raised funds.
Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather, and bring your own water, food, and work gloves. All other tools are provided and no special skills are needed. We hope to see you there!
