Join the Border Route Trail Association (BRTA) on a multi-day maintenance trip! We’ll do a hiking and end-of-winter deadfall sweep on the Border Route Trail’s west end, just outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), using hand tools and some power tools. Lots of hiking on the Border Route Trail, overlooking famous Gunflint Lake is expected.

As an added bonus, we will install the new North Country National Scenic Trail signage along the Border Route Trail from the Magnetic Rock trailhead to Bridal Falls, and the entrance to the BWCAW portion of Border Route Trail. This section should be in good condition after last fall’s epic 18-person clearing and brushing expedition.

We will do vehicle-based camping at a designated Forest Service (USFS) site along the Gunflint Trail near the work area. Breakfast and dinner from Friday morning to Sunday morning are included (three breakfasts, two dinners). Lunch and snacks are on your own. Be prepared for cool evenings and moderate daywork conditions near the Canadian border.
