Join the Border Route Trail Association (BRTA) on a multi-day maintenance trip! We’ll do a hiking and end-of-winter deadfall sweep on the Border Route Trail’s east end, just outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), using hand tools and some power tools. Lots of hiking on the Border Route Trail, overlooking famous Pidgeon River and South Fowl Lake is expected.

As an added bonus we will install the new North Country National Scenic Trail signage along the Border Route Trail from the eastern terminus trailhead to McFarland Lake, and the entrance to the BWCAW portion of Border Route Trail. This section should be in good condition after last spring’s multiple clearing and brushing expeditions.

We will do vehicle-based camping at a designated Forest Service (USFS) or Department of Natural Resources (DNR) site along the Arrowhead Trail near the work area. Breakfast and dinner from Friday morning to Sunday morning are included (three breakfasts, two dinners). Lunch and snacks are on your own. Be prepared for cool evenings and moderate daywork conditions near the Canadian border.
