Chequamegon Chapter – First 2024 Trail Maintenance Day

When

June 8, 2024
9:00 am

Event Type

The Chequamegon Chapter’s first trail maintenance day in 2024 will be on Saturday, June 8th.

We will be helping Rose Wooley and Mike Thewis with general maintenance and repairs on their adopted section of the North Country Trail, between the ballfield in Mellen and Loon Lake.

Mike Thewis and Mike Trieschmann will co-lead this workday.

We will assemble at 9:00 AM at the parking area by the park entrance (pay station). We will then divide into two groups, start at each end, and meet in the middle. A third group will probably start in the middle and work on repairing a bridge and filling a hole. The goal for this two-mile-long section is to brush mow the trail, repair the small bridge, fill a large hole by a culvert, and aggressively cut back encroaching Alder trees.

Please contact the Chequamegon Chapter for additional details and precise location information: che@northcountrytrail.org

Please bring comfortable work clothes, work gloves, insect repellent, sunscreen, a snack, and loppers if you have them. (If you have small loppers and big loppers, bring both!)

We look forward to seeing you!
