This is a great opportunity to preview the Canthook Lake reroute with the Chequamegon Chatper. It will reroute the NCT around a dry section of the trail and past five lakes.

We will meet at the Rainbow Lake Wilderness trailhead on West Delta Road (FR 228) (46.44647, -91.34034).

FR 228 is accessible from Scenic Drive or Reynard Lake Road. Hikers will be shuttled to Musky Lake Road to start the hike. The hike is about 5 miles, but the duration of the hike is difficult to predict because some bushwacking is involved.

This is not a good hike for people with mobility impairments.

We suggest that you dress for the weather and bugs, wear a hat, bring bug repellant (perhaps a bug head net), water, lunch, and a snack.
