Join the NCTA Chief Noonday Chapter for our monthly meeting. Our focus this month is health. Most of us who hike already know the healing power of hiking. Let’s reach out to our friends and family who may need this message of hope and transformation. Guest speakers will present (brief bios below), business meeting will follow. Denny’s journey is one health testimony, but we know there are so many more! PLEASE bring your own testimony to share!

Guest Speakers:
Denny Moore will share his personal story of receiving a grim diagnosis and several severe health conditions a little over a year ago, and how his symptoms have almost magically disappeared with the assistance of hiking/walking and a proper diet. In the process he has managed to lose and keep off 80 pounds from a year ago. Denny averages about 13 miles or 25,000 steps a day, sustainable over the past year, with his recorded best being 26.2 miles hike in February 2023. Residing near Yankee Springs Recreation Area has allowed him to explore the many miles of trails there, including the NCTA route of about 8 miles through the park, but certainly branches well beyond the NCT in trying to stay mobile and moving! Denny has kept recorded statistics of his journey to health and will share some of the amazing highlights.

Joe Jandernoa has been employed at Yankee Springs Recreation Area since college starting in 1997. He is an active hiker and runner on our park trail systems and has been actively involved in park trail improvement throughout his career. He recently also graduated from Western Michigan University with a Masters in Counseling Psychology and is a current advocate for mental health awareness with a passion for assisting Barry County and our local communities in mental health treatment and advocacy. Joe will share some data about the effects and benefits of hiking and outdoor activity on our emotional well being.
