This month’s Chief Noonday Chapter meeting guest speaker will be Alice Bodnar, with the FarOut mapping app.

Alice left her super stressful job as an attorney and thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 2012. After the hike she began developing the FarOut PCT Guide for Android and intended to return to law as soon as she caught up with her Android work. She never caught up, and now serves as COO and General Counsel of FarOut.

Alice will join us in person to provide a live demo of the FarOut app on both iPhone and Android. She will demonstrate the basic functionality, such as how to use the map, list, and elevation views, and how to see more information about waypoints.

All attendees, both in-person and online, will be able to participate in the demo version of the software on their own devices, if they arrive by 6:30pm. Based upon the audience’s interest, Alice will also demonstrate other topics such as how to plan your trip in FarOut, record your hike in FarOut, report trail conditions, and contribute comments or keep your own private trail notes.
